From collecting over 1000 petition signatures in eight days, to running an Assembly race in just over four months, to being here with these results, I am wholeheartedly thankful for each and every person who raised their voices, pulled the levers, wrote the letters, made contributions, volunteered their time, energy and shoe leather, on my campaign's behalf.
The best part of the whole thing has been meeting people in their communities and homes, learning about their concerns and hopes. The sense of what a privilege it has been to get to know all of you has only grown as the campaign progressed. In these troubled times, the fact that all of you came out and supported my candidacy means so much to me. My minister told me that I would never be the same after this experience, and she was right. It is something that I will carry in my heart for the rest of my life.
Together, in a traditionally Republican district, we have given voice to a message of change, of jobs, of hope for the future.
Moving forward, in partnership, we can do great things together. The fight for a government that works for us, for a sustainable economy, for real tax reform, only begins here.
While I did not carry the district, we have made great progress, and will continue to move forward. It is the hard work that all of you have put in over the years, that made my run possible.
Thank you for all that you have done.
My Warmest Regards,
